Hello, I’m Ruth McGrady, a Wiltshire-based Pet Artist.

I’ve lived and worked in Wiltshire for over 20 years but grew up in the middle of a large Forestry Commission wood in Bedfordshire – this is where my love for all things creative started.

Because each season I was surrounded by so much natural beauty, I was inspired to paint.

There was also plenty of space for a menagerie of pets, all of which I painted at one time or another.  My love of animals has never left me.

How Did I End Up Painting Pets for A Living?

It was one of those ‘meant to be’ moments.  I was working as a Business Coach when I decided to surprise a friend with a painting of her dog.  She was overjoyed and (after she’d stopped crying) posted it on Facebook. One of her friends admired it, commissioned me to paint her two dogs and the rest, as they say, is history.

Why Do I Paint Pets?

That’s an easy one.  Because I love it, and because I like bringing a little joy to people’s lives.  I like seeing their faces when they look at the finished painting for the first time. Some cry (I’m currently on a 100% cry-rate), some are speechless and some beam with joy.  What’s not to love about that?

If you have a furry friend (large or small) that you’d like me to paint, give me a call to see how we can capture them on canvas.
